So DC have announced another Watchmen sequel - featuring Rorschach. Is it just me or should they simply leave it alone? Because it's gonna take one hell of a convoluted and nonsensical explanation to resurrect a small bloody blotch in the arctic snow. That or a very boring sequel "day 555, can't write with no fingers, decided I hate polar bears as well after one just whizzed on me"
Kainguru hahahahahaha. I figured Doctor Manhattan could always bring him back, though I don't see any reason why he would.

Listen, everybody complains no one makes anything "New", but when you try break the mold by a having an existential internal monologue that just happens to take place post disintegration your still not happy!
Fuck it Michael Bay movies only from here on out! That's all you deserve!
Well DC is congratulating itself for 'humanising' Dr Manhatten - which is pretty counter intuitive to the cypher that Moore and Gibbons intended Dr Manhatten to be. ie: a truly super powered being, like Superman, would -in the real world - eventually become dehumanised because of ever increasing differences in perspective.
Truth is they just want to keep the licence alive to stop it reverting back to Moore and Gibbons - cause those reprints are a cash cow.

I don't really agree that this HAS to happen. FEE's Out of Frame just did a great video about Superman that provides a great counter argument, IMO. I would provide a link, but... stage whisper I'm at work.

When the hell did that happen?
Ayslyn granted it was one interpretation. A lot has gone into Superman to counter this argument over time. Given the age of Watchmen now, I'd guess in response to precisely the perspective raised by Moore and Gibbons.
I do like that take from years ago on Superman and him having sex with a mortal - basically it's murder.
Man if Steel, Woman of Kleenex
malifer an article I read about a week ago - apparently it occurs at the end of The Doomsday Clock story arc. In the penultimate issue it looks like Supes and Manhatten are about to fight it out .... (SPOILERS) ..
....then they don't (and there is, yet another, sort of DC universe reset)
I hate everything about DCs management of Watchmen except the HBO series. Well, I say I hate it... that too strong. I simply do not acknowledge its existence
Fredrix Not being in the loop, what have they done other than the series and the HBO movie?
EricfromNJ a bunch of prequel comics, and the Doomsday Clock mega epic (which sorta reset the DC universe again). The Doomsday Clock bought back many previously cancelled characters/titles and pushed The Watchmen into the main DC universe.
Kainguru The Watchmen into the main DC universe.
Lot of good that will do. I remember when the merged Wildstorm into the DC universe. I think Midnighter had a book for a couple of years and then poof! where are any of those characters.
I think you're right about them keeping the copyright going ad nausea.
malifer certainly what Alan Moore believes, he hasn't profited from The Watchmen in decades (even those reprints)
