OK, I ran my monthly game of MOTW last night, and I had to work late. I was tired. The players could not stop rolling 12's. It was something I threw together in a second's notice that would fit the shortened timeframe.
OK, enough of the excuses, let me explain. No, that will take too long, Let me sum up.
The PCs were sent by a well meaning agency to stop some cultists in a warehouse near the docks in England somewhere along the English Channel. (We're all from the USA and don't know any better. Maybe there are docks?? These players wanted it set in England for some reason. I digress.) There was a fight with some being acting like they were going to summon Dagon and the PCs got into a fight with some human cultists and Deep Ones. Things went well for the PCs and they dispatched the lot of them. As they investigated the area they realized there was no sacrifice, which there should have been, not even a fish (though it would probably have been human). The PCs were commenting on all of this and also how even though it was near a large body of water, if the cultists and Deep Ones wanted to summon Dagon, they would probably do it in the water, or at least on a boat out in the water. That's when they heard a roar somewhere out on the channel and I ended the game for the night.
So my question is, do I actually have Dagon show up or something else? (Maybe an aspect of Dagon, an avatar or some other representative?) If I do have something insanely powerful show up, how do I keep it awesome for the monster slayers (since their job is to kill the damn monsters) while making it epic?
I think in my tiredness I painted myself into a corner. I am not sure. Right now I am at work, still tired, being bombarded with the musical musings of Julian Lennon. I am unsure of anything anymore. Please help me.
