OK, so we finished up Graphic Novel One of our Masks campaign Thursday night. It ended up with the Bull finding out the Princess of the Fae was her sister that went missing when their parents were killed. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I can honestly say I have a PbtA campaign under my belt.
After some discussion about what to play next, it came down to Savage Worlds and Monster of the Week. Due to some issues I have with one player and the potential of exploding dice (long story), our Skype game will be done in Monster of the Week.
Now, I thoroughly blame Adam for wanting to give this a go due to the AP I enjoyed so much. So I seek his advice plus that out of you who have run different PbtA games. IS there any Monster of the Week advice you have? I am re-reading the book right now and trying to grok my second PbtA game to see if I can learn anything else (variety is the spice of life, after all).
The players seem to be wanting to go in a Chosen and Crew type game, but with adults because they just got done doing the teenage thing in Masks. I am about to find out if we want to stick to a local area (like NY or Philly) or be more of a wandering group.
Hrm...I am guessing I should let them have a say if they are primarily hunters of a specific type of monster or if they are generalists? I keep having these Lovecraftian thoughts but I want to play what they will have the best time going after.
OK, I am thinking aloud right now. Any advice would be appreciated, though I do understand the basic concepts like "Play to Find Out" etc. I am looking for a master class level of teaching at this point, I think, as long as that doesn't sound too pretentious.
