I'm only half way through listening to the first Monsoon, so forgive me if this is dealt with there and I haven't heard it yet, but - there's some discussion in the first episode about languages in Bengaluru, and there are several mentions of Hindi.
Hindi may be widely spoken across northern India, but in the southern states (like Karnataka, where Bengaluru is) they speak Dravidian languages, and specifically a language called Kannada. Those are pretty different from the Indo-European languages you might be used to (English, Spanish, Hindi, etc). Dravidian is a whole different language family, and Dravidian languages have different alphabets too.
Not that this really matters when the characters have divine powers and everything is being magically translated to English ? But people in the southern states can be touchy about Hindi!
