If it weren't for that, I wouldn't have seen this thread, @viscounteric 's triumphant return, or this comment here:
bobcatt the DM taking a deliberately combative stance against the players, i.e. they weren't going to 'beat' his adventures/bad guys.
It's so sad-making when that happens. It's one thing to RP an NPC who is... deliberately and maybe aggressively against the player's characters, but it's a completely different thing to be against the players themselves. If the players "beat" your adventures/bad guys, you should rejoice as a GM.
I mean... if nothing else... that means they actually paid attention to all your prep and didn't go off into left field somewhere! ?
